When I look at this blank screen waiting for me to fill it with something, well, my mind goes completely blank of anything meaningful or worthy of putting down for anyone to read; all except the most trite, overused topics pulled from books or other writings that reside on my bookshelf down in the cave that is our basement. See the problem with being a media-aholic is all the media you soak up, good or bad, just creeps around upstairs in the attic waiting for a chance to be regurgitated into another form. It's incredibly frustrating as an artist when you want to put out something original but all that wants to come out is material that has been done again and again.
Creative constapation is the plague of my existence. Its a love/hate relationship with media because it entertains, it inspires, it takes up whole tracks of terrain of boredom, but it also takes up room that would be otherwise occupied by the possibility of originality. A conundrum of the highest order.
In other, yet related news, I highly recommend seeing "Lemmony Snicket....." As my movie of choice for the week that is currently in the DVD format. On the music end of things Go get The Shins "Oh Inverted Planet." absolutely amazing. I got hooked by their presence on the Garden State soundtrack/movie. And in the book realm read "Eleanor Rigby" or anything by Douglas Coupland for that matter.
And on that media infested note I will conclude my first official rant.
